| Capitol Concrete Products was founded
in 1924, and operated until 1952 when the company was
purchased by Ray Browning who is still Chairman of the
Board. Ray has been very active within the masonry industry
serving as Chairman of the Board for the National Concrete
Masonry Association in 1973. He was also a driving force
in creating the Kansas Masonry Industry Council (KMIC).
Jim Browning currently serves as the President for Capitol
Concrete Products. Jim has served as President for KMIC
and has also served on the NCMA Board of Directors and
the NCMA Executive Board.
Capitol Concrete Products has proven
to be an industry leader in innovation since its inception.
In 1956, Capitol Concrete was the first block producer
in the area to begin curing their block in autoclave
kilns. In 1984, Capitol Concrete experimented with using
solar power to produce the steam needed for curing block.
The drive to produce top quality masonry units is still
further evidenced by the new state of the art production
plant which was brought on-line in Topeka in January
of 2003.
Willie Peterman the production superintendent
has19 years of production experience with Capitol Concrete,
and a total of 35 years in block production. Willie
has been a liscensed Besser Master Block Producer since
1995.
In 1998 Capitol Concrete purchased
Morton Building Materials in Lawrence Kansas. The Lawrence
location now serves as a sales office and distribution
yard, with production done exclusively in our Topeka
location.
