Capitol Concrete Products was founded in 1924, and operated until 1952 when the company was purchased by Ray Browning who is still Chairman of the Board. Ray has been very active within the masonry industry serving as Chairman of the Board for the National Concrete Masonry Association in 1973. Jim has served as President for KMIC and has also served on the NCMA Board of Directors and the NCMA Executive Board.

Capitol Concrete Products has proven to be an industry leader in innovation since its inception. In 1956, Capitol Concrete was the first block producer in the area to begin curing their block in autoclave kilns. In 1984, Capitol Concrete experimented with using solar power to produce the steam needed for curing block. The drive to produce top quality masonry units is still further evidenced by the new state of the art production plant which was brought on-line in Topeka in January of 2003.

Willie Peterman the production superintendent has19 years of production experience with Capitol Concrete, and a total of 35 years in block production. Willie has been a liscensed Besser Master Block Producer since 1995.

In 1998 Capitol Concrete purchased Morton Building Materials in Lawrence Kansas. The Lawrence location now serves as a sales office and distribution yard, with production done exclusively in our Topeka location.
